2/14/14, Friday, Leah Dillon Personal Training and Wellness is OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!! Classes at 6:00 am and 9:15 am! Come warm your Heart up!!!!
This is truly what I'm doing and where I am right now! A true luxury and very rare occurrence...not being out of the house by 5:00 am and going back to "bed". Bed is in quotations because I can never, ever fall back to sleep! But that's ok. I'll take this. Some of my very favorite things...
-two dogs in bed (the other one is out in the cab of the truck as co-pilot as JD plows!)
-lap top (again in bed)
-third cup of coffee (yep, in bed)
-unbelievable view out the window
-morning tv...which I never, ever get to watch. Bonus of Olympic coverage AND Matt Lauer!!! I like Bob Costas too but Matt wins :)
-last, but not least...Broad Street Run home page up on the screen...just entered for the lottery!
Time to get going again! I've been so, so lucky and thankful for being so crazy busy since December with my new baby (my business) that my own work outs have been truly suffering.
The launch of "Barefoot at the Barre" has helped a ton in that area. It's the first class that I've ever taught that I actually do all of the exercises with the class. I truly apologize to many of you for almost 10 years of doing what I say and barking orders while I stand there and watch you suffer :) If you haven't tried it yet, the next "Barefoot at the Barre" class is this Sunday at 8:45 am. Try it...you'll love it and hate it! And...remember, boys are welcome at the barre :)
My other new work out crush is "Bikram Yoga" at Bikram Yoga Doylestown! http://bikramyogadoylestown.com/
I am, historically, so not a "slow" movement exerciser. I love to (at least try) to run fast (on a very dangerous, rocky, wooded trail), do tons of reps of high weights, and jump and crunch my brains out!
But I also have always liked to get good at things that are challenging for me.
Sometimes, when I'm driving home from one of these Bikram classes, I think to myself that is one of the strangest concepts and experiences... I actually think "ok, the guy that invented this series or adapted this practice from other forms of yoga, is laughing somewhere saying "they are all actually doing what I said to do and all of the instructors, all over the world are saying the exact same prompts, every single class!". Ha Ha! I am also quite amused and a little perplexed because it is such a strange experience in some ways...kind of a little stepford village-ish; a little robotic! There are all shapes and sizes of participants with clothing coverage that varies widely...from lots to very, very little :) (I wear lots!) HOWEVER, one of the strangest observations for me is that once the instructor enters the room and begins "prompting", I never see anyone else but myself...for 90 minutes!!!! So CRAZY!
I mention that I think those thoughts when I'm driving home because for the whole 90 minutes of class, I don't think about anything else but what I'm doing and what the instructor is asking me to do. These classes have been some of the most challenging work outs that I have ever done...and the most meditative and the same time...again, so CRAZY!
I have never sweat so much (I think it's about 105 degrees in the room) and have felt so wiped for the few hours after each class. And...after about 10 classes, I can actually grab my big toes, flex my feet up, have my heels come off of the floor, and the back of my knees lay flat and touch my sopping wet towel :) I don't remember ever being able to do that. Now, my challenge is to get my whole chest to touch my legs and my elbows to the floor!!! I've got the whole rest of my life. It's no fun if you don't always have SOMETHING to work towards!
I didn't intend for this post to be any sort of "endorsement". However, it is very worth mentioning that Molly Mitnick and her instructors at Bikram Yoga Doylestown have been excellent! Inviting, directive, and firm all at the same time. On that note, one of the other things that appeals to me about this practice/style is that the instructors don't add much of their personalities to the class and delivery. They are very positive and encouraging but stick to the program. I find that very relaxing and adds to the ability to focus.
I'm kind of hesitant to recommend them because I have enjoyed not knowing many people and avoiding a lot of chit-chat :) BTW, I'm usually the one guilty of the chit-chat!
And, the space is beautiful and clean!
I definitely drank my newest sip of kool-aid!
So, I feel like many of you do right now...disappointed because classes are cancelled and you can't come in and have me "bark" instructions at you in one of my classes...I'm not going to get my yoga fix today either :(
Glass half full though...I get to experience all of those things I listed at the beginning of this post. Dogs in the bed being the best :)
A little side note/disclaimer...I didn't plan this post or review it or check my spelling, punctuation, or grammar. It's just fun to "express" sometimes without second guessing.
Stay safe and come see me tomorrow at the New Hope Karate Studio for:
6:00 am "Hold On" Circuit
9:15 am "Hold On" Circuit
And Sunday for:
7:30 am "Double Down" Circuit

Go to the upper right hand corner of this page and click on the February schedule to plan your work outs for the rest of the week!
And oh, it's a little hard to make out, but here is my view out my "newish" living room window of JD plowing. I know he secretly enjoys it...serious weather conditions, a quality truck, and a great dog by his side :)
Thank you for the unbelievable, sometimes unpredictable experience Denise :)
Due to the winter wonderland out there...all of my classes are cancelled today, Thursday, 2/13/14.
Come see me tomorrow at:
6:00 am "Hold On" Circuit...since we didn't get to do it today
9:15 am "Hold On" Circuit
You can check here for any updates over the next 24 hours as well.
Stay safe out there and try to find a way to enjoy it a little :)
