I wasn't familiar at all with the technical aspects of building a website and have no prior experience or background in that area. I'm always up for learning new things so I decided to keep with it.
As the months went by, however, I think I was more delayed in launching the site because I was so worried about the visual and design appeal. As you all know, people are not shy about giving their opinions!
And then a week or so ago, I asked a friend who has some software and much more computer knowledge than me to stop by and help me get over some of the technical road blocks I was hitting once and for all.
After we worked through some of the calendar and scheduling stuff that was giving me trouble he made a great point that has motivated me to finally get this thing launched once and for all.
He asked me what my intention was in having the site...was I looking to become a web designer or was I looking to grow and enhance my Personal Training practice.
I haven't put all of this time, energy and emotion into working with many of you over the years to become a web designer. Obviously, the answer to the question he posed was clear.
My hopes in having the site available is that my current clients, class participants, friends and prospective clients and club members can and will use it as a motivational resource as well as an informational guide.
One of the best parts about this specific web platform is that I can post my schedule and you can view it at your convenience and stop getting what are possibly annoying weekly emails from me reminding you of your PT session time.
Another kind of dream I've had over the last year or two is to try to figure out a way that I can support a sort of "community" of like-minded people that have similar health, fitness and lifestyle goals. It would be so cool to find out that two people that never knew one another ended up training together, running together or even going out to dinner or the movies because some how they connected through this site. I've been lucky enough to see that happen so many times already in classes that I have taught.
I hope to eventually be able to post links to other local businesses that I happen to love or feel that I want to support and recommend. I picture it kind of like a circle or weaving of people and businesses and services that can help to support each other. Can't hurt to try, right?
In this first post, I want to make it clear that all of my PT services and class and program instruction that I offer is through Cornerstone Health and Fitness. I am extremely dedicated to the club and just wanted to be able to have a place to communicate more intimately and individually...and possibly regularly. We'll see about that.
On that note, my goal is to post a blog entry at least once per week. The other pages; fitness and food might not change as often, but you never know. My schedule will always be up to date because I can do that from my phone...crazy, right?
Coming full circle to my beginning thoughts in the post...I am happy to field constructive criticism on the design aspects of the site, however, my main goal is to have it be informational and user-friendly as a resource. I am not a writer, a grammar junky, nor a web designer.
Let me know if there is specific information you would like me to add to support your goals and we will go from there.
